Modalities
We offer a holistic approach to health and well-being through a variety of services designed to balance body, mind, and spirit.
Aromatherapy
The use of essential oils has been shown to benefit to enhance physical and emotional health. I use a set of essential oil blends and single oils in each service I provide to facilitate a deeply healing and more nourishing experience for each patient. Used for thousands of years, aromatherapy helps with the management of pain, boosts relaxation, improves mood, eases digestion, boosts immunity, and helios fight off viruses, bacteria, and fungus to name a few.
Cupping
Cupping therapy is an ancient form of healing where a therapist places special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. This therapy helps with pain, inflammation, blood flow, emotional stress, relaxation and overall well-being. It can be viewed as a form of deep-tissue massage.

The different modalities used and structured within each session add a layer of healing and nourishment to the body to help support its process of healing. Each one is rooted in ancient practices and can be utilized in the modern day as a standalone therapeutic with the capacity to facilitate body healing. Combining these modalities with acupuncture and massage allows the patient to experience a potent and deep level of recovery, nourishment, and relaxation.
Electroacupuncture
Also known as electrostimulation or e-stim for short, this involves attaching small electrodes to specific acupuncture needles and using a small amount of electricity that stimulates the acupuncture points. The effects are felt as a slight vibration or hum during the treatment. It helps by activating sympathetic nerve fibers that tell your body to release endogenous opioids (your body’s natural painkillers) and endorphins that reduce pain and inflammation. This modality is often incorporated during orthopedic and sports acupuncture appointments to help your body heal faster.
Gua Sha
In its literal meaning, gua sha is defined as “scraping away illness”. It involves using a variety of tools, some of which include bian stone, jade, and ox horn while rubbing different parts of the patient's body in one direction over and over again. The goal is to “activate blood circulation to dissipate blood stasis” to relieve various ailments and diseases, as per the TCM practices. In Chinese, "gua" is defined as stroking, while "sha" refers to the reddish petechiae, or red/purple spots that appear on the skin. The stagnation of the blood, which occurs due to a weak flow or circulation in the skin, is the result of the gua sha treatment. Often incorporated into your acupuncture sessions, this modality adds another technique to help bring the body back to balance while helping ease tension, breaking up hyper-irritable spots and areas of tightness, and bringing back blood flow and circulation.
Herbal Consultation
Chinese herbal medicine has a rich history going back more than 2000 years. Through careful consideration of the whole constitution of the patient, herbal formulas support the body in bringing balance and harmony back to the body, while supporting it through its healing process. Herbal Medicine plays a vital role in Chinese Medicine and is a great compliment to acupuncture. This service is included when you book any acupuncture appointment at La Luna Wellness.
Psychosomatic + Alchemical Acupuncture
Alchemical healing is rooted in belief that there is a vital force that directs you toward your own growth and fulfillment and when this vital force is blocked, ignored, or repressed, illness arises. Subtle yet powerful, this set of acupuncture treatments allows you to discover the change you need in order to live a richer, more meaningful life, or as I like to call it - coming home to yourself. This can be a profound support in your integration process after a psychedelic medicine journey.
Lifestyle Counseling
Lifestyle counseling - Our daily choices, whether big or small, are what encompass and help define our health. With the proper guidance and support, the changes you make will help your health flourish. During your Initial Acupuncture appointment, we will look at your lifestyle choices and assess whether they are bringing you wellness or harm. We will then help guide you towards daily lifestyle choices that will nourish your body, mind, and spirit.
Infrared Light Therapy
Each session, whether acupuncture or massage incorporates the use of infrared light therapy. Infrared therapy has many roles in the human body. These include detoxification, pain relief, reduction of muscle tension, relaxation, improved circulation, weight loss, skin purification, lowered side effects of diabetes, boosting of the immune system and lowering of blood pressure.
Massage
Bodywork offers healing with human touch and has immense benefits for the body. Incorporating bodywork as part of your health maintenance has accumulating effects that build up over time. By reducing stress, the body then has a chance to heal and return to homeostasis.
Nutritional Counseling
What we choose to consume daily has a very influential impact on our health. During your Initial Acupuncture appointment we will take a look at your dietary intake and assess what can be improved or changed to help your body heal. Your follow-up appointments will include a review of how those dietary choices are affecting you and make any changes needed.
